Who We Are

The VHA Community Foundation started out as a charitable giving committee in June 1997 with donations given to the local police, Angel Flight, Habitat for Humanity and Salvation Army and evolved into a certified Florida Foundation and recognized as an IRS designated 501 (c) 3 corporation in January, 2001.  To date, over $500,000 has been donated to the Foundation’s mission and the programs and services it champions.

In 2020, the Community Foundation identified the need to focus on helping The Villages residents to continue to “age in place” by partnering and supporting organizations who provide aging in place programs and services.

Our Moment Café

Our Moment Café is a monthly program that gives both the caregivers and loved ones with memory loss an opportunity to socialize in a safe, supporting and engaging environment with others who are in similar circumstances.  The program provides interactive and evidence-based activities to stimulate and address the need for social interaction with others as well as enrich the relationship between the care partners.  The VHA Community Foundation has funded the first year of operation for the Café which is growing its locations and numbers of programs offered.

Operation Homebound

Operation Homebound is a ministry of North Lake Presbyterian Church and prepares and delivers hot-cooked meals to homebound clients in The Villages®. It was founded in 1998 by a group of community and church leaders who foresaw an increasing population of homebound individuals who are unable to prepare meals. Currently, approximately 250 weekday recipients are registered, and last year over 900,000 meals were provided. The VHA Community Foundation is helping to support Operation Homebound’s scholarship requests from those individual clients who are in financial need.
